A Bigger Purpose - Among the Stars

It’ always an excellent accomplishment to dream, plan, implement, and then smile with the satisfaction that comes with the fulfillment of a dream! What happens next? A bigger dream, plans, bumps on the way, falling back, getting up, and maybe eventually achieving the goal...? Again, the box is ticked and the cycle goes on and on.

Ever stopped to wonder-what’s more...? What it really means to do something bigger than you? (And YOU here means something larger than your family and close friends). To connect to a greater purpose that isn’t SELF, a purpose that doesn’t involve personal interests and a dream that doesn’t revolve around personal ambitions, and sometimes, ego. It sounds off, right? When, in fact, you’re not done with the targets you have set for yourself for the week, or maybe the month or year. How can you do something bigger than YOU when you’re yet to accomplish personal goals, you may ask. Relax! Doing something bigger than YOU doesn’t always require a grand plan or a huge fund set aside. One of my favourite quotes is apt here, and I’ll paraphrase: You may not be able to change the world, but you can change the world for somebody! Sometimes, it’s as simple as lending your heart, giving your time, skills, experience, and maybe your money. Do you know what else can help? Connecting with people who see beyond now, being inspired by people whose lives daily make a difference in others. You can also connect your work and career to making an impact... do a pro bono case once in a month, give free consultations, free training, support a cause. When we set out to make Among the Stars... all we had was a dream bigger than US — a dream to change the world for someone. Do you know what else we had? Passion, skills, and people who bought into the dream, our collective vision! At the end of the day, making Among the Stars was the most amazing experience for many of us, because we knew we were making/polishing a gem that would change someone’s world and outlast us.
